Muesday: a Tuesday that feels like a Monday

Standard

What a long day full of meetings and back-and-forth emails! It feels like Monday… Went to the gym in the morning and then again during lunch and (WOOOHOO! I just can’t believe it…) 10 THOUSAND 2 HUNDRED and 39 steps (it just sounds a lot more when you actually write it out LOL) That’s 5 miles and 800 calories burned!! I’m soooo psyched and trying to figure out if this is even feasible everyday. I mean, how on earth did they figure out that this is how much we’re supposed to walk each day? Let’s see what tomorrow brings….

Baby steps but aiming for 10,000 a day!

Standard

I’m working from home this week so it’s kind of nice not to wait around in airports for flights to land and take-off.. Had a good weekend and enjoyed the beautiful California weather; spent lots of time by the pool and got me a nice base tan :) I mean, look at this pool and tell me how you can resist jumping in!

Wrapped up the weekend celebrating a friend’s birthday-earthday party and enjoyed lovely company and delicious cake! went off course a bit but already back on track…

It’s been a long Monday so far and I’m kinda bummed that I won’t see my trainer today… He sent me an email earlier to keep me motivated so I put on my sneakers after work and went for a brisk walk around the neighborhood.

Well, I took 7035 steps, which is equivalent to about 3 miles (4.8 km) and 412 calories, so not so bad.. What I’ll tell you is that I am LOVING my Pedometer Ultimate app! (btw to all the iPhone users: did you know that you can take a screenshot of ANY screen you’re on by pressing the Home button and Sleep button at the same time? YUP! how awesome :))  Here’s a map of my route – I’ll try something more interesting next time!

Took this picture today of an orange orchard in the neighborhood.. The trees are full of oranges and it’s sooo beautiful!

Interesting fun fact: Did you know that a pound of fat is equal to 3500 calories?  (I’m just fulllllll of calories :) Hehehe)

Well, it turns out that we’re supposed to walk an average of 10,000 steps a day before we can be considered “active”…  Going to take baby steps but will be trying to get this one!

Week 8 Results

Standard

Today marks the end of Week 8 on my weight loss journey with Isagenix (http://hibatude.isagenix.com/

After my 8:00 am meeting, I rushed to see my friend: the bathroom scale……. *drumrollllllll* …….. I’m down 3 pounds since last week! wooot woot! (I know it’s not that much but I’ve been working out and sore for the past 2 weeks that I KNOW I gained muscle too..)

I took my measurements this morning too (neck, arms, chest, diaphragm, waist, abdomen, buttocks, thighs, calves and upper knees) so I can now report the full 2 month update!

I started on Isagenix on February 27th, 2012 and weighed 266 lbs (I knowwww, it’s crazy that I had let myself go like that). Well, I’m happy to report that since then I have lost 33 lbs and 43.7 inches (111 cm)!!!!!!

Another cool tool I use online to track my progress and nutrition is called DailyBurn (https://tracker.dailyburn.com)  Since i’ve been using this for such a long time and randomly putting in my weight over the past few years, here’s a cool progress chart too! This is actually showing that I’m definitely lighter than I was in the last 3 years.. HOW AWESOME!

58 more pounds to go.. YES, WE CAN!

Nothing like a swim to wash away all your aches and pains…

Standard

I got to Burbank airport at around 4:00 pm and made it just in time for my flight home to San Jose.. My arms were soooo sore, (specifically my biceps), and I was squriming with pain as I tried to roll my suitcase behind me.. Landed safely, got my rental car and headed HOOOME sweet home..

As I sat down at my dining room table, I thought to myself that there must be something I can do to feel better.. I’ve been stretching all day and I even took anti-inflammatory meds and then… it hit me. The weather’s beautiful, the pool’s probably empty, and if it isn’t.. there’s always the hot tub! And that’s exactly what I did.

15 laps and some water aerobics later (and a nice 15-minute spa session with the bubbling jacuzzi jets) and I feel great! Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m still kinda achy but I’m wayyy better than I was this morning! Nothing like a swim to wash away all your aches and pains… I’m gonna sleep well tonight!

My arms are sore

Standard

I’m going to be working from home next week to take care of a few things so I decided to do personal training twice this week. So, I headed to the gym after work, changed and started my session by telling Austin that my legs are still aching from Monday’s workout.  So much for asking him to focus on upper body because the first thing he had me do is stand on the Bosu balance ball while I rowed with weights..

After 30 minutes of intense arm, chest and back work with bars and weights, I had to rush back to my hotel room to shower and get ready for dinner.

One of the IT engineers at work is leaving at the end of this week so the plan was to take him out to dinner at Claim Jumper at 6:00 pm. I got there a bit late and was contemplating what to eat for a long time, given that I’m still quite far from meeting my weight loss goals! So I had a 6oz Filet Mignon with grilled veggies and it was delicisious! I love my red meat and I’ve been eating so much fish and drinking so much water that I feel like I’m going to become one..

When I was at “The Lakes”, the mall we had dinner in, I took some beauuuutiful pictures of some of the rose bushes there.   Absolutely breathtaking! Here are some of my favourites…

Me and my pedometer

Standard

After what felt like the longest day today, I was able to convince my friend to walk again after work.. I went to see my chiropractor, the amazing Dr Fey (http://www.feychiropractic.com/) and got my mini-massage afterwards (the best part), then drove back over to Woodland Hills for that walk.. We decided to walk at a brisker pace and I even did a light jog at the end! Pedometer readings are 4873 steps, 2.1 miles, 298 calories (I might as well round it up to 300..)  I am sooo proud of myself! Aren’t you? :)

Decided to work out with the trainer again tomorrow since there won’t be a yoga class. I’m feeling some soreness in my abs, but it’s a good pain.. legs are ok but my calves and hamstrings are a bit tight.. Guess I need to stretch more
